KILLSWITCH ENGAGE Honored At BOSTON MUSIC AWARDS
December 5, 20072007 has proven to be a sweet year for metal maestros KILLSWITCH ENGAGE. After headlining the Vans Warped Tour, getting awarded a gold RIAA certification for 2004's "The End of Heartache", and seeing "Holy Diver" (cover of the DIO classic) crash into the Top 10 on the Active Rock charts, the band kicked off December with two climactic wins at the Boston Music Awards. The band procured not only outstanding Metal/Hardcore Band of the Year, but also took home Act of the Year, one of the biggest awards of the night.
Since the band is currently on a co-headlining tour with LAMB OF GOD, they could not physically attend the ceremony, but did send a rhapsodic video acceptance speech from the road. Proving metalheads have hearts, too, they showed their gratification by donating an autographed guitar to be auctioned off for the benefit of the Music Drives Us Foundation, which helps keep music in the lives of unfortunate children.
Waving a fond farewell to 2007, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE will welcome the new year with a winter headlining tour with the hyperpowered THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN and EVERY TIME I DIE, and openers PARKWAY DRIVE (whose debut release was produced by KILLSWITCH ENGAGE guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz). The tour officially launched January 9 in Allentown, PA and finishes in Hartford, CT on February 5.
